MEMBER SERVICES

Realizing that many colleges face increased pressure to hold the line on spending while continuing to provide campus services, AVIC consolidates the purchasing power of the private, not-for-profit campuses in Vermont so that members may purchase select products at a discount.  AVIC offers optional group purchasing opportunities in a number of areas such as equipment leasing, office supplies, furniture, and insurance as well as access to the State of Vermont contract pricing.

Promoting Civic Engagement

Part of every AVIC member’s mission is to prepare students for lifelong citizenship and social stewardship. To realize that aim, all members integrate service into academic courses, have service programs that manage thousands of student volunteers, and develop meaningful partnerships that direct higher education resources toward community needs.

Students at independent colleges annually contribute approximately 895,400 hours of volunteer time worth over $42 million. An estimated 88% of that time is with K-12 organizations.  Individually and collectively, higher education possesses considerable resources — human, fiscal, organizational, and intellectual — that are critical to addressing significant social issues.
